Our Story

EduMatch was founded in 2014 by Dr. Sarah Thomas, PhD, with a simple belief: educators are stronger when they are connected. What began as a grassroots initiative to match educators for collaboration has grown into a global organization with four divisions spanning professional learning, publishing, community building, and philanthropy. Over the past decade, EduMatch has published nearly 100 titles through its publishing arm, built a worldwide network of educator collaborators, and partnered with districts and organizations to deliver human-centered professional learning. Since 2015, Dr. Thomas has been tracking the intersection of AI and education, making EduMatch one of the earliest and most experienced voices in this rapidly evolving space.

Our Team

The EduMatch team and facilitators are carefully vetted professionals whose expertise and strengths support the goals and mission of EduMatch. Our team and facilitators have all been educators, so they understand their unique needs and professional circumstances. Many are still practicing educators and administrators using the same strategies in their classrooms, schools, and districts that they speak about in sessions. It's another way that EduMatch ensures our community is progressing and connecting together!

The EduMatch Learning Facilitators and Consultants

We contract with over 250 consultants and facilitators who provide keynotes, sessions, book studies, and long-term support like instructional or leadership coaching. They also lead asynchronous and synchronous online courses, and webinars, and provide implementation support for new initiatives. We have the entire ecosystem of education covered within their combined expertise. They truly are amazingly talented individuals. As a collective, they're unstoppable.

Our Philosophy

Everything EduMatch builds is guided by our Human in the Loop philosophy: the conviction that AI and technology should amplify educator agency, not diminish it. We bring this lens to every partnership, every program, and every community interaction. We are not anti-technology. We are pro-human. That means we take seriously the risks that come with AI adoption in schools, including algorithmic bias, equity gaps, data privacy, and environmental impact. And it means we design learning experiences that equip educators to think critically, act intentionally, and lead with confidence.
